EchoFirst®, Inc., the creator of Echo®, a revolutionary new solar energy system that delivers twice the energy of a basic solar electric (PV) system, today announced that Echo's Advanced Controls Platform will now enable remote home thermostat control. Echo solar system owners will now be able to monitor and control their home thermostat from anywhere in the world using only a mobile device (e.g. mobile phone) or computer.
"The Echo solar system already delivers electricity, water heating, home heating and home cooling – providing homeowners with the convenience and energy savings of remote home thermostat control was a natural value-add," said EchoFirst CTO Josh Plaisted. "Echo's Advanced Controls Platform gives our customers the ability to control their home thermostat with simple, one touch commands like 'home' or 'away'."
"This feature previously cost thousands of dollars and was only available in expensive custom homes, but Echo brings this value to our customers today. And because it's so simple to use, it's easy to keep the home comfortable while saving energy at the same time," added Plaisted.
Meritage Homes (NYSE: MTH), one of the nation's top 10 homebuilders, as well as many other leading builders, are incorporating Echo solar systems as a standard feature in multiple communities. "Including Echo in our new homes helps make them approximately 70%-80% percent more energy efficient than our competitors' homes," noted C.R. Herro, vice president of environmental affairs at Meritage Homes. "Homes in our communities offering superior energy efficiency are selling over three times faster than our competition – our homebuyers will love being able to adjust their home thermostat when they're away from home."
Every Echo solar system includes real time performance monitoring through an intuitive, user friendly graphical user interface (GUI). Clear, easy-to-understand color graphics and charts enable homeowners to see how much energy their system is generating. Because Echo delivers twice as much energy as a basic solar electric system, it saves homeowners significantly more money on their utility bills while enabling them to generate more of their own energy.
EchoFirst is planning several new innovations in the months ahead and will be exhibiting at Solar Power International from October 11-14, 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
EchoFirst Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets the Echo solar system.
